The Quickening

Reed has never met another human.

Raised by an alien researcher on a moon estate designed to feel like paradise, Reed has spent his life as a valued curiosity — studied, protected, and entirely alone in his species. He dismisses the perceptions that surface without warning: moments when the world briefly arranges itself into patterns too vast for his mind to hold. Flashes of wind and rain from a place he has never been. The persistent feeling that something is missing from every room he enters.

Then he meets Lyra — another human, the first he has ever encountered — and everything he has dismissed as imagination becomes undeniable. Something is waking up in both of them. Something their caretakers cannot explain, their captors want to control, and their enemies will kill to prevent.

When Lyra is taken to a research facility where humans are studied through methods that no one outside the facility is meant to see, Reed follows — leaving the only home he has ever known, stepping into a galaxy that considers his species a relic, and discovering that the reach between humanity and its lost homeworld is not a metaphor. It is real. It is mutual. And it has been waiting for him longer than he can imagine.

The Quickening is the first book in the Seedfall trilogy — a story about finding your people, hearing your planet call you home, and discovering that the bond between a species and its world is older than civilization, and has been waiting.

Understory

Freedom was the easy part.

Reed and the humans who escaped Krell's facility are alive, free, and hunted. In a galaxy that treats their species as property, survival means finding the others — the rest of the 1,280 scattered across star systems that will not willingly give them up.

As Reed reaches more of his kind, the substrate-access between them deepens into something none of them expected: a shared awareness that connects them across distance, amplifies their capacities, and begins developing a will of its own. The network is more than its members. It thinks. It wants. And no one agreed to that.

Then something old stirs in the substrate beneath the world. A presence that may have been part of what ended humanity the first time has been watching the scattered survivors build exactly the thing it does not want built. The 1,280 have just become visible to something older than their species — and this time, it knows what they are becoming.

Understory is the second book in the Seedfall trilogy — a story about what happens after rescue, the terrifying discovery that connection has a mind of its own, and the return of a presence that has been quietly shaping humanity's condition for longer than civilization has existed.

Landfall

They scattered as seeds. They return as a species.

The network holds. The scattered humans have found each other, survived the galaxy's worst intentions, and built a shared reach that has never existed before — a living web of connected consciousness that proves humanity's interrupted evolution was not a dead end. It was a beginning.

Now there is only one thing left to do. Go home.

Earth is not the world they left. It has healed into something fierce and beautiful and strange — a planet that has been holding itself in readiness for centuries. The Primordials, whatever they are, have been waiting alongside it since Seedfall. The relationship that was torn apart before it could complete is ready to try again.

But something older will not allow it. Whatever interest was taken in humanity across the millennia, whatever watched at Seedfall, whatever has been quietly shaping the conditions of human separation — it faces its own ending if the return completes. The final confrontation is not a battle. It is an act of shared substrate-access on a planetary scale: the most intimate thing a species can do, performed under the worst possible conditions, with everything at stake.

Landfall is the final book in the Seedfall trilogy — a story about going home to a place you've never been, healing a wound older than civilization, and discovering what a species becomes when it finally stops being alone.
